Alterac Silver Hand

The Silver Hand Chapter of Alterac is the resident chapter for the mountains of Alterac, and the surrounding area. It progresses the teachings of the Light throughout the region, for both Paladins and Priests. It’s current Chapter Master is Sir Kavid McTash, representing the Paladins, while Lady Jezebel DeBray represents the Priesthood, as a second to the Chapter Master. the chapter focuses on raising the next generation of light worshipers, turning aspirants and squires into proper knights, to protect Alterac from the darkness that surrounded and thrives within it. Through the teachings of the three virtues, and the five tenets, the chapter is sworn to the defense of the defunct kingdom.

Lad, no one feels ready. No one feels he deserves it. And you know why? Because no one does. It’s grace, pure and simple. We are inherently unworthy, simply because we’re human, and all human beings–aye, and elves, and dwarves, and all the other races–are flawed. But the Light loves us anyway. It loves us for what we sometimes can rise to in rare moments. It loves us for what we can do to help others. And it loves us because we can help it share its message by striving daily to be worthy, even though we understand that we can’t ever truly become so. So stand there today, as I did, feeling that you can’t possibly deserve it or ever be worthy, and know that you’re in the same place every single paladin has ever stood.”

Grand Master of the Silver Hand

The originations of the Chapter began within the now defunct City State of Alterac, serving as the nation’s Silver Hand Chapter, named then, The Citrine Eagle. It was led by the then Chapter Master, Dame Zaria Blackmoore. In time, there would be disillusion between the Chapter and the City State, leading to the separation, and formation of the Alterac Silver Hand, independent entirely from any oath but it’s own. Eventually the scope of the project would expand, and the organization would be incorporated into the large Citrine Eagle, with the Silver Hand Chapter at it’s core.

Now based out of the City of Talongrab, there would be a great deal of changes, and adjustments made in the months and years to come. Though at it’s core the Chapter’s goal would remain the same to protect Alterac and her people. There were several attempts to revive the Alterac Diocese for those priests serving within the Eagles, but eventually the decision would be made to incorporate them within the Silver Hand fully as Clerics of the Order. Eventually Dame Zaria Blackmoore would step down from the position of Chapter Master, handing the reins to Sir Kavid McTash, who currently resides over the Silver Hand of Alterac. He continues to work of the Silver Hand Compendium, a project of massive proportions, meant to standardize the teachings of the Silver Hand. With his second, Lady Jezebel Debray organizing the priests, it is the hope that the Silver Hand of Alterac will not just survive, but thrive, and expand.

The beginning path of any Aspirant begins here. All Aspirants are referred to in general as “Novices”. A basic understanding of what one is involving themselves with is key in understanding the basic premises of the Silver Hand and Church. An Aspirant should reference the Aspirant’s Handbook in order to find a better understanding of what they must do to be eligible to become a Squire. The Aspirant should seek out the current Master at Arms or Ordained Priest to progress further.

As a Squire, or Acolyte, one has proven themselves throughout their Novice training to be taken on by a Knight or Ordained Priest of the Order. The Path towards Knighthood is tailored to be a long bonding experience for the Squire, and their Mentor. Similar to the long bonding experience of a Squire and their Mentor, an Acolyte and Ordained Priest will interact with one another and the Acolyte will be given several trials. Both will be responsible for partaking in and overseeing these tasks accordingly.

Knight/Ordained Priest

A Knight stands as an equal within the Silver Hand, having earned the right to wear the title Sir/Dame. They have proven knowledge of the Light, as well as skill of arms enough to stand toe to toe with the Darkness of the Azeroth. They are Respectful, Tenacious, and Compassionate, the embodiment of their training and philosophy.

An Ordained Priest also stands as an equal within the Citrine Silver Hand, having earned the right to wear the title Mother/Father. They have proven knowledge of the Holy Light, as well as passed the three Trials of Virtue. An Ordained Priest may provide sermons and liturgies, as well as hear confession.

Knight/Cleric Lieutenant

The first rank within the Knight Promotion System, this rank shows that one has mastered at least one of the three virtues, going above and beyond the call of duty. Those who achieve this rank, while only beginning their long road, are rewarded with title and rank appropriate, recognized by the Chapter.

Cleric-Lieutenant is the first rank within the Silver Hand Promotion System. This rank shows that one has mastered at least one of the three virtues, understands the five tenants, and exceeds in teaching the Holy Light and spreading its just cause.

Knight/Cleric Captain

The second rank of Knight/Cleric-Captain is the second rung on the ladder of ascension, acting as a first step into proper responsibility. It is within this rank that one is expected to hold a certain amount of command authority, both on the battlefield, and off. While not having direct command over any other Knight, they are expected to lead.

Cleric-Captain is the second rank within the Knight Promotion System. A Cleric-Captain is expected to have mastered at least two of the three virtues, actively teach and spread the Holy Light, and display honor and prestige when on the battlefield.

Knight/Cleric Champion

The final rank in the path of ascension is the Knight-Champion. These are to be the few with dedication enough to have completed all previous trials and tribulations. It is at this rank that one has neared perfection of all three Virtues, proving themselves to be a true and worthy successor to the first Knights of the Silver Hand. They are Champions of the Light.

Cleric-Champion is the final rank within the Knight Promotion System. A Cleric-Champion is a dedicated, valorous, and noble cleric or battle-cleric who has displayed great knowledge in the Holy Light. One who has earned the rank of Cleric-Champion has mastered the Three Virtues and is a proven leader. They are a Champion of the Light.

Master at Arms

A position that one can hold within the Chapter, the Master at Arms is appointed directly by the Chapter Master, and acts as the one responsible for assisting Aspirants forward, into the rank of Squire. They oversee all aspirant training.

Abbess or Abbot

A position that one can hold within the Citrine Silver Hand. The Abbess or Abbot will respectively oversee Eagle’s Perch Abbey and all aspiring or ordained priests apart of the Holy Order of Citrine Clerics.

An elected position, the Chapter chooses three of its Knight/Clerics to serve as Paradigm. They represent the best and brightest of the Chapter, the embodiment of their selected Virtue. Respect, Tenacity, and Compassion. They hold this position for four months, before another election is held. Their responsibilities include acting as representatives for the Chapter master, as well as overseeing the trials when one wishes to advance their Knighthood.
